Your boss’s boss, is the likely person to help your career advancement.

During the interview process, at the appropriate time, ask to meet more senior individuals within the organization to gain their perspective on the position and the overall company goals.  Their perspective and view of the company goals and the part you will play in achieving them may differ from your potential immediate manager.  Gaining exposure and establishing an introductory relationship can significantly help you in the future.
