Thoroughly developing and documenting the expectations for a new hire are critical to success.

Quite often, a company will wait until the workload or required new expertise reaches a critical point before it decides to hire additional people.  Once that decision is made, there is a tendency to move quickly to identify and hire the new person.  Ideally, before reaching the decision point to hire someone, but certainly immediately after the decision is made, the company needs to carefully determine exactly whom they should hire regarding the job and the candidate’s requirements.  Thoughtfully creating a highly detailed job description before the interview and hiring process begins will avoid some potentially serious entanglements and hiring errors.
