Attempting to raise venture capital is a waste of time until a company has revenue.

There is plenty of folklore and misinformation about entrepreneurs, pre-revenue companies, and early-stage companies raising money from venture capital firms.  Although it does happen on rare occasions, the vast majority of companies should be spending their time building their business and satisfying customer demand, not on pitch decks.  There are several level-setting tactics and positioning strategies that should be understood before the company wastes its time on its funding pursuit.
