It is easy to fall into the “group think” trap and miss issues until after product announcement.

For various reasons, companies often decide not to disclose new product or service offerings to “outsiders” until the general public announcement.  Some of the justifications involved concerns about tipping off competition, slowing the sales of existing products, or attempting to stop any leaks that may diffuse the excitement of the major planned announcement.  Any or all of these reasons may be valid, but their potential impacts must be weighed against the positive, independent feedback they can provide to help you avoid potential issues.
