Marketing needs to ask some tough basic questions before prospects do.
In crafting the collateral material and new product announcement, marketing is the last internal group that can objectively examine the product before its exposure to the outside world. It is easy to get caught up in the internal excitement and optimism and totally agree with others that the product will surely succeed. Marketing needs to be the final gatekeeper and ask some tough questions to help ensure the new product will hit its mark.
