Slow and deliberate may be much faster than quick if it avoids false starts.

Remember the story about the tortoise and the hare?  The lesson we learned is that slow and steady wins the race.  Unfortunately, many of us seem to forget that lesson when we are confronted with the daily pressures of unexpected, negative interruptions.  We often feel obligated to respond quickly and sprint to the newly imposed finish line.  Occasionally, this is the appropriate response, but it won’t work if this is the norm as we compete in the marathon of business.
