Reallocate resources from stronger elements to the weakest element to increase overall resilience.

When a chain breaks under a load, there obviously was a weak link.  Unlike an actual steel chain, the elements in a company’s overall value and fulfillment chain can be analyzed, and the potentially weakest link can be identified.  Once identified, action can be taken to shore up the weakest link before it breaks.  The most effective approach is often to reallocate existing resources to shore up the weak link.  This reallocation may cause other links to weaken, at least temporarily.  However, even if weakened, they will not impact the overall result, which is all that counts.
