Studying the past is useful, but remember future events will unfold differently than expected.

Unquestionably, learning from past mistakes is important in virtually every aspect of our lives.  Examining what worked and didn’t work and making appropriate changes helps us grow and prosper.  However, assuming that history will repeat itself and future events will unfold unchanged as they have in the past is a dangerous assumption.  As you are adapting, others may be adapting too.  The same will become different!  Consider what circumstances are likely to change and develop your plans accordingly.
