Introduction to CxO-Atlas Web Site

Quick Summary: CxO-Atlas is a free web site that contains hundreds of articles on a wide variety of business issues.

Abstract:

This web site contains hundreds of very specific, short articles covering a wide variety of operational issues that may be of interest to entrepreneurs or business executives.   Access to the information is quick, easy, and free.  Through a very simple filtering, browsing, and selection process, a user can find, read, and download articles on specific subjects of interest.  All articles are independent and can be read in any order.

This web site is a content repository that contains information that may be of interest to all CEOs, senior executives, and entrepreneurs.  It covers many of the day-to-day challenges and issues associated with starting or running a company.  The content is contained in approximately 500 short articles.  Each article is about 800 words long and occupies 1.5 pages on average.  Most can be read in two or three minutes.

Each article addresses a very specific subject.  Articles that address similar subjects are grouped into sections with the sections grouped into chapters.  Finally, the chapters are grouped in volumes.  This hierarchical approach allows a user to quickly find an article with just a few clicks.

The fundamental content access concept involves selecting a category, typically a volume, then a chapter. Next, the user would browse through the articles, selecting one, reading it, and, if desired, downloading a PFD copy of the article. The articles are also assigned to different business stages.  A user can directly select a business stage and view, select, read, and download the articles of interest.  Finally, a user could enter a key word, an article title, or its number, and then repeat the browse, select, read and download process.

Once a user spends a few minutes gaining familiarity with the site, articles can be pinpointed and read or downloaded in less than one minute.

Although articles in sections, chapters, and volumes are related, there is no need to read the articles in any particular order.  Each article stands on its own.  Most articles do reference other articles that the user may wish to review to gain a better understanding of the related or underlying theme of the article’s content.

The site goal is simple:  Provide business leaders with highly relevant business operational content quickly when needed.

To further simplify and speed up the browsing and selection process, each article contains a one line quick summary and an 80-word abstract.  This allows a user to gain a quick understanding of the article’s content without necessarily reading it.  In fact, in many cases, the essence of the article is captured in the abstract, often negating the need to read the article at all.

The site also contains some business tools and other files that may be of interest to some users.  These files include Excel™ workbooks, PowerPoint™ presentations, and presentation texts.

Access to the site, including the ability to download any of the content, is free.  Anyone can view the content, but only registered users can download articles and tools.  Registration only requires a user to enter their name, email address, and company affiliation.
