Ask newly hired employees to develop their own training material as they learn it.
Starting a new job is often accompanied by being inundated with a fire hose of new information that quickly can become overwhelming and confusing. Few companies have adequate material to help new employees understand the facts, nuisances, and folklore within the company. An effective way of addressing this issue is to ask the new hire to document this information as they are exposed to it, with each new person adding to the material.
