The same facts can be used for or against you. Interpret them for others first.
In some circles, the concept is called positioning, while others may call it weasel wording. The label is totally dependent on your point of view. With any fact, the fact itself is secondary. What is more important is the interpretation of the fact. If you do not interpret it for others, they will do it themselves. They may reach your desired conclusion or maybe not. When considering competitive positioning, determine how the facts can be used in your favor, not theirs.
