There are two forces that are simultaneously at work that often derail an investment before it even starts being seriously concerned by an investor. The first force is the entrepreneur’s focus on what they want to say instead of what the investor wants to hear. The second force is the large number of opportunities presented to an investor. By necessity, investors must quickly decide what NOT to spend their time on, so they can focus on the very small number of opportunities that might be a worthwhile investment. Getting an investor’s attention and the desire to learn more must occur quickly and with some memorable words.
