Both the candidate and the company must assess their long-term value in the hiring process.
Although a candidate may be focused on the current position under consideration, they need to spend time understanding their future prospects with the company and the likelihood that the position is in line with their long-term goals. The company should take a similar long-term view. The cost to find, hire, and train a replacement and the impact on the organization suggest that a company should look well past the costs of recruiting a person.
