Except for ethics, there are very few binary alternatives that a company faces.  Instead, gray areas between choices are the rule, not the exception.  A simple technique, referred to as a Rail Diagram, can help add objectivity to the decision-making process.  The method can be used in a wide variety of situations and consists of rating several characteristics that should be considered.
