Investors invest to make money, which may not be the same motivation as the entrepreneur.

It is easy to make assumptions that the company and investor goals are the same: the company’s long-term success.  However, at different times throughout the relationship, goals may significantly misalign.  Understanding why and when this occurs is critical to maintaining a long-term positive relationship.
