Provide timely feedback, both positive and negative, to employees as events occur.

For many good reasons as well as corporate folklore, formalized performance reviews generally evoke a negative response from employees.  Similarly, many managers dislike the arduous process of conducting them.  This situation does not have to occur and can be remedied to make the review process a positive event that can help the employees and company alike.
