Focus on sharing and explaining information instead of simply posting data.

Openly sharing business results data has become commonplace.  However, sharing data often leads to unwarranted speculation and multiple interpretations of what the data really means.   In most cases, interpretations are not flattering or positive.  Gloom and doom seems to be far more interesting to discuss than positive outcomes.  Addressing the nay-sayers after-the-fact is often viewed as an excuse, while using the same talking points before the fact is viewed as an explanation.  It is important to keep people informed of information and what it means rather than simply sharing data.
