Maintaining the proper balance between constituent groups is an ever-present activity that the CEO must consider. Like a gymnast on a balance beam, one false move can have significant negative consequences. It is easy to fall into the trap of overcompensating in response to one vocal group at the expense of others. Just like the flaying of arms may momentarily keep a gymnast balanced on the beam, overcompensating may still result in a fall.
