Evaluation and Valuation are Very Different

The Valuation of a private company is an opinion that may or may not be based on an evaluation.

Chat rooms, the media, entrepreneur, and investor meetings invariably discuss company valuations, not company evaluations. Although the two can be related, that relationship is often flawed. Understanding the importance of both and what should come first is important in accurately understanding a company’s current performance and future potential.
